Undefeated world San Shou kickboxing champion and 185-pound Strikeforce mixed martial arts contender, Cung Le (19-0), has confirmed that he will make his Pride Fighting Championship debut during the organization's second fight card in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 24, 2007.
"Right now, there is no contract," said Le, "but the preparations are being made. I don’t get involved in the negotiations at all. My job is to train hard and be ready to fight."
Two weeks ago, Le notched his third career victory fighting under mixed martial arts rules after opening a cut near the eye of The Ultimate Fighter season two veteran, Jason Von Flue, with a roundhouse kick to the head in the first round of their Strikeforce "Triple Threat" bout. Expected to be Le's most serious challenge since the 34-year-old made his debut in the cage in March, the fight fell short of fan's hopes for an all out war when it was halted at the 43 second mark due to the ringside physician's orders.

"Fighting in Pride will give me more exposure and help to build me up in the right way, said Le, who remains under contract with Strikeforce. "It adds credibility to what we are doing here. I am still up and coming in MMA and I want to dispell the bad press that it gets sometimes by people who think it’s barbaric."
Le remains committed to fighting for Strikeforce despite his recruitment by Pride. "I think if I do well in February, there is a chance I may get to fight in Japan later on," he said. "Right now, though, I would like to thank the fans for all their great support and wish everyone happy holidays from Cung Le."
