Pride 33 The Second Coming will be the promotions second show on American soil. The inaugural show was highlighted by Fedor Emelianenko defeating Mark Coleman, but overall the event was met with mixed reviews. The Pride product and the UFC product are equal in presenting the highest level mixed martial arts, but at the same time both products are very different. Pride 33 will be the companies second attempt to make a larger impact on the North American mixed martial arts scene. As always, competition is good and both Pride and the UFC need each other to further push the sport. The fans will always be the true winners as both companies will try to out do the other.

EliteXC’s Debut Leaves Fight Fans With More Questions Than Answers
Why did Frank Shamrock allow himself to be disqualified? After all, he knows the rules.
Renzo Gracie weighed in at a very soft looking 180 pounds. Shamrock on the other hand, weighed at a ripped 185. Shamrock firmly believed that he was going to stream roll Gracie. This was going to be his big return. He was going to become the face of MMA on Showtime and set up some big money fights for himself in the future. Fans must remember that Shamrock was signed to fight Phil Baroni in April on the next Strikeforce card. Shamrock must have believed that he was going to walk through Gracie and then be ready to go come April against "The New York Bad Ass."

All 20 fighters who will compete in the spectacular 10-bout EliteXC mixed martial arts event Saturday at DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss., made weight at Friday's weigh-in at Sam's Town in Tunica, Miss.
The first five bouts of the live card will be streamed live on the Internet beginning at 7 p.m. (ET) at ProElite.com -- a growing destination for the MMA community.
The final five bouts, headlined by the highly anticipated, history-making Frank Shamrock-Renzo Gracie showdown, will be televised on SHOWTIME (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast). It will be the first time an MMA event airs live on premium television.

Mixed martial arts makes its Showtime debut Saturday night live from Southaven, Mississippi. Long time boxing promoter, Gary Shaw enters the world of mma with his newly created Elite Xtreme Combat. The card is headlined by Frank Shamrock taking on Renzo Gracie, and features a number of talented fighters on the undercard. UFC veteran David Loiseau returns to the ring against Joey Villasenor, as well as, heavyweight project Antonio Silva looks to take out brawler Cabbage Correira.
Main Event: Frank Shamrock vs. Renzo Gracie
This fight should have taken place about eight years ago, when both fighters were in their respective prime. However, Gary Shaw felt that this main event would attract viewers, as well as, the attention of the mixed martial arts world. In reality, the fight is not that great of a match up and could be over rather quickly.

Appearing in his K-1 debut, Murat Direkci needed just 87 seconds to defeat former World Max Champion Albert Kraus in a Superfight; while Yoshihiro Sato captured the Tournament Championship Belt at the K-1 World Max 2007 Japan. Held at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo's seaside district of Odaiba, the event kicked off the '07 World Max season with an abundance of thrilling bouts and a couple of stunning upsets.
Since its inception in 2002, K-1 World Max has become a fan favorite in Japan and around the world, mainly because the 70 kg/154lb weight class consistently delivers spirited, fast paced bouts. The Inaugural World Max Final was won by Dutch boxer Albert Kraus, who was but 21 when he captured the title. Undefeated world kickboxing champion and mixed martial arts contender, Cung Le, has scored his first feature film acting role. Le will play the lead villain in the upcoming mixed martial arts drama, Never Submit.
"We are pleased to have a star of Cung's caliber on the team," said James Hergott, President of Imperia Entertainment, Inc, the production outfit behind the film. "Cung has won all of his MMA fights by KO or TKO in the first round and is an exciting fighter and talented actor."

Last June, Thailand's Buakaw Por Pramuk defeated Andy Souwer to claim the World Max Championship for the second time.
Both Defending Champion Buakaw and inaugural World Max Champion Albert Kraus of Holland will appear in Superfights at this season's first World Max event, the Japan 2007 Tournament, set for February 5 at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo's seaside district of Odaiba.
