Memorial Day was first officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 by General John Logan. 139 years later, Randy “Captain America” Couture continues to remember those who have fought for our freedom with Operation Xtreme Sacrifice. In conjunction with UFC 71, The Extreme Couture Foundation will be raising money, awareness, and thanking those who have made the ultimate sacrifice on Sunday, May 27th from Couture’s training compound in Las Vegas. The launch party for Operation Xtreme Sacrifice will include a red carpet arrival for celebrities, UFC superstars, sponsors and several of our decorated veterans. There will be several ways to donate money for the troops and their families. Tax deductible donations will be collected thru ticket sales, a live auction featuring a hunting trip with Randy himself and even a text contribution program. This event takes no political stance and is simply a platform for letting the troops know how much we care.
Hosting this event is Randy Couture, who has become the face of the UFC. Couture began as a collegiate Greco-roman wrestler and quickly became the world’s most dominant professional mixed martial arts fighter. Randy is the current UFC heavyweight champion and the fourth fighter inducted into the UFC hall of fame. He is the only athlete to have held championship titles in both the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions of the UFC and is the only five-time champion in the league’s history. His reputation and accomplishments have earned him the nicknames "The Natural" and “Captain America.”
About Operation Xtreme Sacrifice
The mission of Operation Xtreme Sacrifice (O.X.S.) is to support our nation's wounded Heroes. For many of these families the financial hardship of lost wages and medical bills is daunting. O.X.S. is committed to doing all we can to support these soldiers and their families.
No matter how our wounded service members and their families come into our path, they soon learn that they are part of our O.X.S. family. Whether we are arranging for long distance phone calls to/from Iraq or funding a new physical therapy program, O.X.S. will always provide a voice and be ready to aid the needs of our troops.
